My research uses a combination of psychophysics and neuroimaging to understand visual perception. More specifically, how we perceive object form. I conceptualise form perception as a two-fold process involving the ability to (1) isolate figure-from-ground and (2) bestow identify upon that percept. A heavy influence on my research comes from considering the symptom profile of patients with visual agnosia, in which one or both of these features of form perception is vitiated. My PhD research seeks to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of form perception in neurotypical individuals in order to understand agnosia’s better.
