I am completing my Honours in Psychology under the supervision of Dr Elizabeth Saccone and Dr Philippe Chouinard. My broad area of interest is cognition and perception, particularly how illusions can help us understand the human perceptual system.
My Honours thesis will investigate weight perception using the size-weight illusion. In the illusion, the smaller of two equally weighted objects feels noticeably heavier. While there is little consensus over the precise mechanisms underlying the illusion, several theories have been proposed. The aim of my research is to examine the Sensorimotor Mismatch Theory.
